2016 Sunshine Coast Architecture Awards
The 2016 Sunshine Coast Regional Architecture Awards were presented on Friday 22 April at a ceremony at the Sunfair Beach Hotel in Marcoola.
From 16 entries, 10 projects were recognized with regional commendations. “These projects show high levels of climatic and cultural sensitivities specific to their location,” said Michael Lavery, director of the 2016 Queensland Awards jury. “Projects do reference the style the region is known for, however we are also seeing new ideas and new forms that add to discussions about what makes an architecture that belongs to the Sunshine Coast.’
Among the recognized projects, three received additional accolades – the Gabriel Pool Award for Building of the Year and Regional Project of the Year and House of the Year. All projects which received regional commendations will now proceed to the 2016 Queensland Architecture Awards, to be announced in Brisbane on 24 June.
